Bigcommerce and eBay, the two most popular eCommerce names, recently announced their strategic partnership. The partnership took place early last month aiming to offer Bigcommerce customers an inventory platform for listing and monitoring their products efficiently. Bigcommerce being an amazing eCommerce platform allows retailers in Australia and New Zealand to connect with eBay which is the largest online marketplace across the globe. The Bigcommerce merchants can synchronize their stores using an eBayLINK app for easy product listing and inventory management. The integration is expected to help the merchants boost their sales as they can now access 162 million globally active eBay buyers. On the contrary, the eBay buyers will have the benefit of more product varieties to choose from. If you’re a Bigcommerce development company, you would probably know that the retail sector has changed a lot in a past few years. The customers of the modern retail sector interacting with any business are not bounded by devices, channels or platforms. Consumer purchases depend on the context – purchasing where, when and on whatever platform or device they find is most convenient at any point in time. Brent Bellm, Bigcommerce CEO said, “It’s never been more important for business owners to manage and sell across multiple channels, and this partnership allows our customers to take advantage of a thriving marketplace that will bring them new customers and turn that discovery into revenue.”
According to eBay's Head of North America Hal Lawton, "eBay's strategy and our business model is firmly grounded in the foundation of making sure we have the best choice in selection for all our buyers across all markets." He further added, "To continue to deliver on that, it's very much grounded in continuing to acquire small-to-medium-sized businesses that bring that unique differentiated inventory at great bargains to our site." Moreover, the sales platform jointly created by Bigcommerce and eBay will provide retailers a much wider audience with some unique benefits such as rapid bulk product listing, centralized inventory management and synchronized product price, quantity and descriptions. All the product information synchronizes instantly from Bigcommerce to eBay allowing the orders to be imported to Bigcommerce platform. The partnership intends to enable retailers to integrate multi-channel commerce capabilities, sell products more seamlessly across two vast channels through a single simple dashboard and eventually scale business operations. Even eBay says it is happy with the partnership. “We’re ecstatic to welcome Bigcommerce merchants to our vibrant seller community”, says Hal Lawton, Senior Vice President of eBay North America. “We’re steadfast in our efforts to provide merchants of all sizes the tools and platform to drive their businesses and brands in a scalable, frictionless manner within today’s multichannel environment – and that is exactly what this relationship is designed to accomplish,” he added. The Beta testing of Bigcommerce and eBay integration will start in the Q3 of 2016. What are your thoughts about this Bigcommerce-eBay partnership?
